Silhouette Cameo Cardstock Paper Reviews

When I first received my Silhouette Cameo, I knew I wanted to use the Print and Cut feature.  However, I wasn't sure where to start with paper.  First, I tried printing on regular paper from Target and Walmart.  It's ok but if I was trying to match up colors to a paper pad printed by a manufacturer, the colors were not matching at all.  So, I started experimenting.

The key is a good, high quality cardstock.  There is no wrong or right one....just choose what works well for your project:

1. X-Press It
  • Pros: 92 lb weight, smooth texture, feels like store bought die cuts
  • Cons: expensive, between 37-42 cents per sheet
  • 7kidscollegefund.com and amazon.com

2. Neenah Solar White Super Smooth

  • Pros: very smooth texture, feels like cardstock stickers, great for elements
  • Cons: thin 80 lb weight
  • 7kidscollegefund.com and amazon.com

3. Paper Trey Ink
  • Pros: inexpensive, only about 15 cents per sheet, super thick like a journaling card (perfect weight for Project Life, Project 365 and Big Picture layouts)
  • Cons: rough texture
  • papertreyink.com

Project Life Journaling Cards BBQ Theme Freebie

I love this place called Smitty's Market in Lockhart, Texas.  We went with a group of friends to McKinney Falls State Park not too far from there.  All the friends loved it!  So I had to add this as part of our trip.  The kids think the grills are really neat!  ...well...so do the adults!

Postage Stamp Tutorial with Silhouette Studio Software

Very simple technique that I demonstrate on my YouTube Channel:

I used this technique to Date Stamp some of my Project Life 365 Journal Cards.  I like that I can duplicate this with any city and any date over and over again since it is a digital file.

Make your OWN with this FREE Postage Stamp file to use with the free version of Silhouette Studio
This file will only work if you install Silhouette Studio.

Winter Wishes Silhouette Cameo Tutorial Project Life Journaling Cards Echo Park

I wanted to journal our first snow for this winter season. The Silhouette Cameo makes this so fast, fun and easy.  It may look overwhelming at first, but it is really simple to use.  It does not take a lot of time to learn.  Jump in and create!

Silhouette Cameo Journaling Cards Tutorial for Project life with Echo Park Fall Mini

The products I used were:

  1. Silhouette Cameo
  2. Echo Park - Fall Fever Mini Kit from JessicaSprague.com
  3. Paper Studio brads purchased at Hobby Lobby
This journaling card was one of the 30+ elements included with the digital kit.  I cut out an extra owl and attached with pop dots.  I used the ink dropper tool in the Silhouette Cameo software to choose the ink color for the font.  Journaling text now matches the paper.

These letters were pulled from the Echo Park This & That Graceful collection.  It was another digital file I had downloaded.  I inked the edges by hand with Tim Holtz distress ink in Walnut Stain.  The brads are from Paper Studio at Hobby Lobby.  It had an owl included in this collection.
This card was included in the kit.  I added the Paper Studio Brads and green stitching with my sewing machine.  I cut out an extra banner and layered it with pop dots.
This is a custom made card.  I used one of the digital papers at a background.  Then I added a journaling square.  I typed the letters with the Silhouette Cameo and made sure to select turn off the cut lines on the font. I copied another Fall Fever element and used pop dots for added layering.
